Each Estraderm patch is individually sealed in a protective pouch and is applied directly to the skin. A stiff protective liner covers the adhesive side of the Estraderm patch. Remove the liner by sliding it sideways between your thumb and index finger. Holding the Estraderm patch at one edge, remove the protective liner and discard it. Try to avoid touching the adhesive. Use immediately after removing the liner. If you are using Alora, Vivelle, or Vivelle-Dot peel off one side of the protective liner and discard it. Use the other half of the liner as a handle until you have applied the sticky area, then fold back the remaining side of the patch, pull off the rest of the liner, and smooth the second half of the patch onto your skin. Apply the adhesive side to a clean, dry area of your skin on the trunk of your body (including the buttocks and abdomen). Do not apply to your breasts or waist. Firmly press the patch in place with the palm of your hand for about 10 seconds, to make sure the edges are flat against your skin. When first using Estraderm, start on the lower abdomen. Estraderm is applied only to the abdomen or upper buttock, and is pressed in place with the fingers. Contact with water during bathing, swimming, or showering will not affect the patch. The application site must be rotated. Allow an interval of at least 1 week between applications to a particular site. Alora, Esclim, Estraderm, Vivelle, and Vivelle-Dot patches should be replaced twice a week; Estraderm once weekly. --If you miss a dose...If you forget to apply a new Estraderm patch when you are supposed to, do it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time to change Estraderm patches anyway, skip the one you missed and go back to your regular schedule. Do not apply more than the prescribed number of Estraderm patches at a time.

Store the Estraderm patches at room temperature, in their sealed pouches. This medicine comes with a patient information leaflet. Read it and follow the directions carefully. Ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist any questions that you may have about this medicine. Apply the medication as directed to the clean, dry skin of the shoulders or upper arms once daily in the morning; or use as directed by your doctor. Certain brands of this medication may also be applied to the lower stomach (abdomen). Check your patient information leaflet or ask your pharmacist if your brand may be applied to the lower stomach (abdomen). Avoid applying gel to skin with open sores or to broken, irritated skin. Do not apply this medication to the genitals (penis or scrotum). Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after applying this medication to reduce the possibility of spreading the medicine from your hands to other people. This medication should be dry on the skin before getting dressed. Wait 5 to 6 hours after applying the gel before you shower or swim. This medication is flammable. Avoid fire, flame, or smoking until the gel has dried. ZYBAN is given to a patient 150 mg/day (one tablet per day) for three days, and then the dosage is increased to 300 mg/day (2 tablets per day of 150 mg). The course of treatment, which begins ONE WEEK BEFORE THE TARGET QUIT DATE can be 8 weeks or more. It can be stopped abruptly. It can be combined with nicotine replacement therapy

Zyban is the first non-nicotine, FDA-approved oral medication (a pill) for smoking cessation.

ZYBAN is a non-nicotine aid to smoking cessation. Side Effects:

Like all medicines, Zyban may cause side effects. The most common side effects include dry mouth and difficulty sleeping. These side effects are generally mild and often disappear after a few weeks. If you are having difficulty sleeping, avoid taking your medicine too close to bedtime.

The most common side effects that caused people to stop taking Zyban during clinical studies were shakiness and skin rash. Contact your doctor or health care professional if you have a rash or other troublesome side effects. Use caution before driving a car or operating complex machinery until you know if Zyban affects your ability to perform these tasks.

Warnings -

There is a chance that approximately 1 out of every 1000 people taking bupropion hydrochloride, the active ingredient in Zyban, will have a seizure. The chance of this happening increases if you:

have a seizure disorder (for example epilepsy) have or have had an eating disorder (for example, bulimia or anorexia nervosa)

take more than the recommended amount of Zyban
